  • Two Full time positions, one continuing employment, contingent on the continuation of external funding, and the other 12 month fixed term, located on the Camden Campus at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC)
  • Opportunity to work as part of a dynamic and growing equine nursing team 
  • Base Salary HEO 3 (38 hours), $70,359 p.a. – $78,130 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Reporting directly to the Senior Equine Veterinary Nurse, the Equine Veterinary Nurse position will form part of the Camden Equine Centre (CEC) within the UVTHC.  You will provide equine nursing and technical assistance with clinical and emergency cases presented to the equine unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist clinicians with veterinary treatments, prepare and assist with surgeries & clinical procedures
  • Clean and maintain clinical treatment areas, including top and bottom stables, isolation unit, and nurses station
  • Sterilise instruments and equipment, prepare and pack  surgical kits
  • Maintain stock including ordering of consumables and procurement of supplies, and control of stock quantities.

About you

  • a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing
  • at least 3 years of nursing experience is preferable
  • proven experience in handling horses, foals, yearlings, colts, and stallions
  • knowledge of a large range of veterinary surgical & medical procedures
  • demonstrated experience in the procurement of surgical supplies.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
